3 Years

Today marks the "official" day that my hubs and I started dating. Though we knew each other for a few months prior, we started dating May 30th. What a world wind romance. We definitely had our ups and downs and many bumps along the road but I have never been so in love. He's my best friend, my brick, and keeps me going every day. I love you honey. I can't wait to spend forever with you.

7 Weeks

This week has been pretty status quo. Had my first emotional break down last weekend. Scared my poor husband to death. I couldn't stop crying to save my life. No idea why I started crying in the first place. I was full out blubbering. Poor Doug had no idea what to do, so he just told me to take a nap and that he would check on me in a while. Thankfully, I found this all hysterical and laughed about it for hours.

Sore Boobs: HUGE! I can't wait to be able to wear a bra and them not constantly hurt.
Morning Sickness: I want to meet the idiot that named this morning sickness because it happens all freaking day long. Thankfully, my body operates like clockwork so I know pretty much exactly when I will be feeling like crap and can plan for it.
Frequent Urination: I've been really bad about drinking enough water the past few days. Certainly limits my bathroom breaks. Definitely have to go more then before though.
Headaches: Had an absolutely terrible one today. Sitting in front of a computer all day doesn't help.
Tiredness: Getting out of bed in the morning is becoming a very difficult task. Pregnancy dreams have started and man are they weird!!! Might have something to do with me wanting to stay in bed till noon.
Bloating: Folded and bought a bellaband last week. When you are 6 feet tall and 120 lbs putting on even 3 shows very quickly. Esp when its in the same place. By the end of the day I can't button my pants.

Cravings: Still fruit and smoothies
Aversions: Ketchup, bacon, and ANYTHING Mexican

THIS WEEK I'M:
Looking forward to: Getting my ultrasound and seeing the dr. This time next week I will have seen my little babe!!! :-)
Not looking forward to: Feeling like crap all day. Hurry up second trimester.

6 Weeks

Well, 1/2 way through the first trimester. YAY!! Seeing as everyone says this is the worst trimester, I can not wait to get it over with. Finally had my last blood test on Monday and my hCG levels came back at 1200! Which means two things, little babe is still hunkered in there and growing like crazy & I finally got to schedule my first prenatal apt with a doctor and the first ultrasound! Can't freakin wait!!! The office wanted to wait a couple more weeks so hopefully we can see the heartbeat and it wiggling away in there. May 31st is when I go in to see my little tyke. I still am in shock about this whole thing. Esp that my little one is already the size of a sweet pea! Baby is growing so fast! Otherwise, this week has not been so fun on the pregnancy front..

Sore Boobs: Holy Crap! Had to start sleeping in a sports bra. That helps a lot. They have also grown huge, thanks parents for pointing that out to me.
Morning Sickness: Waves of sickness are now hitting me. Still being in the car sucks. I must look hilarious driving down the road gagging every few minutes.
Frequent Urination: I think I'm getting used to this point, or I just don't notice it anymore. I read something that you should try to not drink 20oz in the last 2 hours before going to bed. Wow this helped with the night trips to the bathroom. I'm only having to make 1 now!
Headaches: Still not bad. Just little ones here and there.
Tiredness: This is the worst. Slept 9 hrs last night and still wanted to sleep more. Saw something that said when your pregnant you're working more than if you were to climb a mountain. And boy do I feel that way!
Bloating: I have the funniest little bulge that comes out at the end of the day. So much so that I have to unbutton my pants. Hubs finds this just absolutely hilarious.

Cravings: Fruit, fruit, fruit. I swear I'm going to start turning red and sprouting seeds with the amount of strawberries I've eaten in the last few weeks.
Aversions: Ketchup, french fries, and pickles

THIS WEEK I'M:
Looking forward to: Going away for the weekend with some great friends we haven't seen since the wedding. (Have to find some non-alcoholic drinks to indulge in!)
Not looking forward to: The waves of nausea from being in the car. Blah.

5 Weeks

Little Baby Gilman is now the size of an apple seed!! Holy cow!! Little tyke has doubled the size in the last week and is now pumping its own blood. CRAZY! Can't believe my little one is doing all that already!! Over the past week I have been back and forth to the doctors to get my blood drawn (3 times so far). Nothing scary, but what all the websites don't tell you is that your HCG numbers need to be over 1000 to get your first ultrasound and really see your doctor. Since it was so early when I found out, I was not even close to that. However, in the first 24 hours that I knew my numbers doubled!! I then waited a week to go back, I'll find out tomorrow (Friday) if I'm closer but the nurse really thought I would be. I'm still shocked at all the things my body is doing and how fast everything is happening. This whole thing is really starting to sink in and I am so super excited. Now for all the not so fun stuff. I figured since I am not showing yet that I would put all the "normal" symptoms down and explain mine on each. So, here we go:

Sore Boobs: Understatement. I can hardly touch them without being in pain. They are so full now too, might be time soon to look for new bras.
Morning Sickness: Nothing horrible yet. Today I had my first experience of real nausea but I didn't get sick. Being in the car is really not so fun though. (and no, I do not have motion sickness)
Frequent Urination: One thing to think about, if you're putting 100 oz of water into your body, you are bound to go to the bathroom a million times. Having the nurse tell you to not go to the bathroom an hour before you come in is a joke, I seriously laughed in her face. However, this is definitely the most annoying part about being pregnant so far.
Headaches: Nothing terrible. Little ones here and there, but they go away in about 10-15 minutes.
Tiredness: I could sleep all day. Unfortunately, I am so sensitive to light I wake up early. Mid-afternoon naps have become my best friend though. Hubs also laughs at me around 8pm because I am ready for bed.
Bloating: I can't really say I have a "baby bump" yet. Since I am so small though, everyone that knows our news so far thinks I will show very very quickly. I do have that bloated look going on though. I hardly ever get bloated before my period so this is a new look for me. I'm blaming it on all the liquid I am consuming.

THIS WEEK I'M:
Looking forward to: Getting the first ultrasound (this will be consistent until I actually get it) & going on a much needed weekend away with some great friends (bring on the cucumber water & lemonade!)!
Not looking forward to: All the above symptoms staying and morning sickness showing its nasty head on a regular basis. Also, having to pick a new doctor in the OBGYN practice. I've been told my doctor no longer does OB. BOO!!!

4 Weeks

I know this is super early. I have not told my family yet, but I wanted to have all my symptoms down and then when I do share our news, they can go back and read all about it. So, 4 weeks is where I am right now. I found out earlier then most people do, and honestly, I had a feeling I was pregnant. They aren't kidding when you hear your sense of smell is heightened. The smell of chicken makes me gag in an instant. Other strange smells make me nauseous too but thankfully, no morning sickness yet!! I also feel like a whale. That is the only way to put it. I can not lay on my stomach, already, without feeling like I'm laying on a ball. I also get this weird heart beat feeling in my uterus and lower stomach whenever I lay on my stomach at night. I've started craving strange things, at the moment it's salty foods. The other night I had my husband make stir fry and I devoured it in a matter of minutes. The breast tenderness is what first gave it away for me. I do have breast pain around my period time, but it usually lasts only a few days, not a few weeks. All of these are not nearly as bad as the number of times in one day that I have to go to the bathroom. I see this getting old really quick. Last night alone, I had to wake up 4 different times. I feel like every 30-45 minutes I'm running back to the bathroom. Annoying.
This week I'm:
Looking Forward To: getting the first ultrasound & telling my family
Not Looking Forward To: the start of morning sickness (I've been told it's only a matter of days) ugh!

I'm Pregnant!!

Wow! Pretty much the only word that came to mind for about 24 hours. I woke up Thursday, May 3 thinking that I needed to take a pregnancy test just to make sure I wasn't pregnant. See, for those who don't know, I was scheduled to have surgery on Tuesday, May 8. While my husband and I were not "trying" we weren't "not trying" at the same time. Since my surgery was scheduled so soon, I felt that I would just make sure. I took the at home pregnancy test in the morning as soon as I woke up. After about a minute I looked at it again and only saw one line, not pregnant. I went through most of my day without looking at it again, big mistake. Around 12:30pm I went back to my bedroom to take a shower and checked it again, more to throw it away than anything. To my surprise, there were two lines!! I was pregnant. I know most people do this, and doctors say you really don't need to bother, but I went as quickly as possible to the nearest store about bought 2 more box's of pregnancy tests. When I got home I took 3 more. After three minutes, they all told me what I already knew, all positive. I immediately called my OBGYN and got an appointment for the same day to get the blood test. I needed to know right away if I was really pregnant so I could cancel my surgery. Within 10 minutes I was there and the blood test was done. After talking to the nurse, I had a short list of things I needed to do. On the top of that list, tell my husband..

Since I had a few other things I needed to get, (prenatal vitamins, water bottles, etc.) I went to the nearest Target. I got the few things that the nurse told me to get and headed to the infant section. Everything was so little!! I ended up getting a new born onezie with a little dog face on the butt (so cute!) and says "I Love Daddy" on the front. My husbands birthday was the next week, May 10, so I figured I would just give him an early birthday present. His reaction was probably the best and I laughed about it for hours, still am. Best description, deer in the head lights. Ready or not, here we go!

My First Blog

Let me start off by saying that I never have blogged before. So, it might take me a while to get used to all the fun things on here. I started this blog so my family and friends that I don't see on a regular basis or live out of town can follow my pregnancy with me! I will do my best to do a blog every week and tell everyone all the fun (and not so fun) parts about being pregnant. I did get this whole blog idea from Little Baby Garvin and loved it!! I am very open, so if there are any questions I will do my best to answer them all. This is my first time being pregnant so I might not have all the answers, but I will tell you my experience if I have it. Wish me luck!
