It's December!!!

I have so many updates to share that have happened in the last week I feel like I haven't posted for a month! It's been one very exciting week. The most exciting news??

We're officially having a baby THIS MONTH!!!

That's right folks. My OB said I will have this little bundle by the end of December. While I had fully intended on waking up Dec. 1st and rolling over waking up Doug with "We're having a baby next month!!" I had to change my plans!! While I am super excited to welcome our little babe, and honestly this whole pregnancy thought I would have her in December, hearing it from the OB that he would INDUCE me if I hadn't naturally gone into labor made it so much more real. Of course, I promptly made sure to pack hospital bags for both little girl and myself. Doug has to do his own.. he better hurry!!

So Wednesday afternoon we had an ultrasound since I was measuring so off. Hannah is a CHUNKER! She was measuring 5 pounds 2 ounces. Yep, 5 freaking pounds. Now, I said was because she is supposed to gain at least an ounce each day from here on out. Yikes!! They also measured her sweet head.. which measured 3 weeks ahead and was in the 87%tile. HOLY CRAP! After the U/S we saw the OB (whom I just adore) and he confirmed that with everything else I have gone through, having her sooner rather than later would be the best option for the 2 of us. I will have 1 more U/S next week to get more measurements on our *not so little* babe and then we will schedule my induction. *insert freak out here!*
Here is a look at our chunky monkey..

How far along? 36w4d (34w4d)
Total weight gain: 30 pounds. I have no idea where it all went!!
Maternity clothes? Absolutely. I can still wear some of my old shirts & yoga pants. But mostly rock the maternity clothes.
Stretch marks?  I freaking found 1. Yes, 1. It's smaller than a dime, but I still know it's there. Damnit.
Sleep: The past week I have had to pee so many damn times at night its ridiculous. Having a good night sleep has gone completely out the window. I swear I woke up one night 7 times to use the bathroom. What.the.hell.
Miss Anything?  Sushi and Alcohol. Not that these are new, but they are back in full effect.
Best Moment this week: Seeing that chunky face!! I can't get enough of seeing our precious babe.
Movement: She's gotten so big I more feel an entire limb move then a simple kick. Poor princess doesn't have much room in there to move around. She has had a few dance parties that I was unaware she was going to have. Of course they happened at 1 AM..
Food cravings: Crush Orange Soda. Still. and Nutella. Don't know where that one came from. I've put nutella on pretty much everything this week..
Aversions: Nothing terribly new this week..
Labor signs: Contractions suck. Esp when they aren't time-able. I've been bent over in pain a few times the past week.
Symptoms: She is going to have a set of lungs on her with the amount of hiccups she has on a regular day. That an I've started getting swollen ankles if I'm up for too long.
Belly Button in or out? Officially an "outty". Oh the joys of pregnancy.
Wedding rings on or off? ON!! However, I have had to take them off a few times this week...
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy! (and uncomfortable)
Looking forward to: Seeing our girl for the last time in utero next Thursday!!
Not looking forward to: Nesting. I get far too tired. (but feel oh so accomplished!!)

Postpartum Padsicles

I am a complete nutcase when it comes to being as prepared as possible. I have done hours upon hours of research about all the little things doctors don't tell you about. Like how pushing a watermelon out of you who-ha hurts for weeks after. Oh, and your insides continue to fall out of you like a freaking waterfall for weeks too. Of course I didn't think it was all push baby out and I'd be up a running within a few days or that everything would just snap back to normal like a rubber band. But holy crap, I'm scared for my poor lady parts. One of the best things I read about was the "padsicle". I asked a nurse about these and she said they even have some in the hospital but will only give one to you if you ask. Hello! You should advertise these puppies! Since my little one has a few more weeks to cook, I figured I would get a jump start and have a bunch of these babies ready to go for when I get home. After all of the research I had done, I decided to NOT put any essential oils in there (like lavender) mainly because I can not stand the smell of lavender. Plus, most Witch Hazel comes with some sort of smell. However, you can add a few drops of an essential oil if you'd like. Here's what you'll need:

  • Maxi pads (I got 2 kinds. Maximum strength w/ wings and Overnight Heavy Flow)
  • Thayers Witch Hazel (Doesn't have to be Thayers but this was the only kind I could find that didn't have alcohol in it. I also got the Rose Petal kind for a nice scent but any kind will do)
  • Aloe Vera Gel (Has to be gel. Don't get the concentrate or juice!)
Then the steps are easy..

Open the pad and cover the middle with Aloe Vera Gel..
Spread out the aloe with a spatula or spoon. Squirt on Witch Hazel enough to make the pad wet but not enough to soak through the pad. You still need some absorbency in there for your mess. Close the wings (if you got ones with wings) back over the middle and recover the adherent with paper..
I used Always Maxi Pads mainly because of this point.. their plastic covering can stay on when you are making these and then you can just close it back up using the tape that they originally had on them!! However, if you can't keep the original plastic that your pad comes in then you can either use plastic wrap or aluminum foil. Either way, wrap the pad back up into its form..

Store the pads in a large gallon size zip lock bag or extra plastic grocery bag so you don't have pads hanging out all over your freezer. Once you are done, place the bags in the freezer and you're ready to go!
I really don't know how many I made. I did make some that only have Witch Hazel in them because I ran out of aloe. Otherwise, I can't wait to try these out. Plus, seeing how both aloe and witch hazel have healing properties in them, I can only imagine they will be amazing!!

Blustery day in the Hundred Acre Woods

We finally got the birch trees for the nursery and I love them! At first when we opened the box, the leaves were orange. That's right, orange. Well this was just not going to work for my grey and yellow nursery so I came up with a plan to spray paint them yellow. Thank god for an amazing husband. He got all messy and made them perfect! Only a few more finishing touches and the nursery will be DONE!!

Daddy-to-be Survival Kit

Since this is Doug's first baby I wanted to do something super sweet for him. He has been a god send through this whole pregnancy. He has been to every apt. (for both momma & baby!) and has dropped everything he is doing when I needed him.
He is so excited for his little girl to arrive. When we started talking about the baby shower, I knew I wanted him to be involved too. He is going to be a first time parent too. I didn't think it was fair for me to get all the attention. So we decided to have a couples shower.
Then I started thinking about the shower and how many showers I had been to where the mom gets special gifts, but the dad doesn't. I knew that this would probably happen at ours too but I wanted to show him how much he meant to me and how grateful I was.
This honestly took me hours to complete.
More so just thinking of all the little fun things I could put into it!!

Snickers: Because sometimes you just need to laugh!
Socks: You will be doing lots of rocking!
Shirts: For all those spit up messes, you'll need to change too!
Pop Rocks: Because you are my rock.
Candle: So you never feel like you are in the dark.
Coffee K-Cups: For times you need a pick me up, and fast!
Venti Coffee Cup: Because sometimes you are going to need a Venti.
Travel Mug: She is going to keep us on the move!
Granola Bars: For mornings we're just too tired to make breakfast.
Salt & Pepper Chips: For those late night feedings.
Tootsie Rolls:  To remind you to roll with the punches.
Erasers: We're both going to make mistakes.
Life Savers: Because you are my life saver.
Paper Clip: To help you hold it all together.
Sugar Daddy: You're the best one I know.
Advil: When all else fails, take 2!!
Diaper Bag (not pictured): So you always have a back up.

34 (maybe?) Weeks

Welp, shit just got real. We've had our (first) baby shower and now our house has EXPLODED with baby stuff. The only room that does not have something baby in it is our bedroom. And that will soon change once we get our bassinet.

Our shower was amazing. I could not have even thought of anything better. We are so luck and blessed to have so many people who love us and our little peanut. I feel overwhelmed with love. Of course, so many people wanted to feel our little princess move or kick. She had other ideas in mind. I swear she gets scared when she hears voices she doesn't hear on a normal basis and gets all hunkered down inside me. She didn't even get the hiccups (which she gets at least 10 times a day!). I felt really bad. Until most people had left I sort of laid on the couch and had my sister put her hand where I knew little girls butt was and she rolled over. Megan SCREAMED. I laughed so hard I almost peed my pants. Go figure, this scared the shit out of baby (seriously think I felt her shudder) and she did not move a muscle until we left. Poor little girl.

In other news, our 32(?) week baby apt didn't go as planned. This pregnancy just hasn't been the easiest thing for me. Something is "off" with me measuring wise so I am getting another U/S on the 28th. While I simply can't wait to see my baby girl again, I am completely and utterly freaked out. I know measurements can be off all the time, but still. The last thing a expecting mom needs to hear is something is "off". He even went onto say that he is concerned. REALLY? I love love love my OB and have nothing but complete confidence in him so I know he is doing the right thing. I'm still nervous.

*We kept the sign at what I should be.*

How far along? 34w4d (32w4d)
Total weight gain: up to 155.
Maternity clothes? Needed some tights for my shower. Not the most comfortable thing in the world. I also got some leggings. We'll see how those feel.
Stretch marks?  Nope!!!!
Sleep: I have been so flipping tired this week. I had a few nights that I slept 11 hours. Yep, 11. Unfortunately, I've also had nights that I wake up at 1 AM. Not a fan. At all.
Miss Anything?  Fitting into my old clothes. Being able to breath. Yummy fall drinks.
Best Moment this week: Hearing our sweet little girls heart beat.
Movement: She loves moving for daddy. She will not move for anyone else.
Food cravings: Crush Orange Soda. so.freaking.random. I've had at least 6 this week.
Aversions: Mac n'cheese.
Labor signs: Nothing new
Symptoms: BH suck. And baby's little hiccups are just crazy.
Belly Button in or out? Just straight up odd looking.
Wedding rings on or off? ON!!
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy! and starting to get super super nervous!
Looking forward to: Thanksgiving!!!!!
Not looking forward to: I've totally slacked on the HW front the last 2 weeks. I have to bang out so much today/tomorrow. I'm going to be exhausted.

33 (31) Weeks

Although I have been running around like a CRAZY person, this week was pretty status quo on the pregnancy front. I will say, no news is good news. I found out that I don't have some random blood disorder that we didn't know about. However, my platelets are still low. So now I will get my blood drawn every week and see the hematologist every 2 weeks.

How far along? 33w4d (or 31w4d)
Total weight gain: still at 154
Maternity clothes? Nothing new.
Stretch marks?  no!
Sleep: Been so so tired this week. I think I have gone to bed before 9PM almost every night.
Miss Anything?  Being comfortable.
Best Moment this week: Finding out nothing crazy is wrong with me. Boom!
Movement: Crazy girl
Food cravings: Sweets
Aversions: Nothing new
Labor signs: Nope
Symptoms: Been awfully off balance the past few days.
Belly Button in or out? Flat!

Not looking forward to: So many doctors apts this week! Sheesh.

30/32 Weeks

I can't even put into words how insanely CRAZY the last 2.5 weeks have been. I'm surprised I even had time to take showers. AND of course, I woke up this morning realize I never did a 29 or 30 week post. Sorry!! On top of all that, I remembered I don't have a free weekend until DECEMBER!!! *commence freak out* Where is all this time going??!! On another note, we got through frankenstorm sandy okay. We lost power for a few days and stayed with some friends and my parents for a few nights. Otherwise, last 2 weeks have been spent at way to many doctors offices..

So now for the not to great parts.. apparently I don't do being pregnant very well. At my 28 week apt they did some blood work that came back showing I have low platelets. Yuck. Off to the hematologist I went where they did more blood work. 10 freakin viles. I didn't even know I could give that much blood. Unfortunately, my low platelets were not a fluke by the lab. ugh. So what does this all mean? I'm not sure yet. Basically, it happens in about 5% of pregnancies (seems like a really low number to me but whatev) and doctors have no idea why. Their best guess is that since your body is doubling to even tripling your blood supply to care for the little babe your platelets just can't keep up. However, there could be some other reason so they tested me for everything under the sun (why they took so much blood). They want me to see the hematologist every week from now until I deliver. That's a lot!!! I see him again on Thurs. to find out all the results. Yippee.

I saw the OB this week too (since we go every 2 weeks now) and he told me great news.. I DON'T HAVE GD! Woohoo! Not that anyone thought I did, but still great to hear. Also, little one is freaking huge. We're measuring 2 weeks earlier then projected. Meaning I am measuring at 32 weeks instead of 30 weeks. Woot woot!!

How far along?  I'm gonna do both my new date and old date so; 32w4d (30w4d)
Total weight gain: 128-->154
Maternity clothes? I went shopping with my momma this weekend for a dress for my baby shower in 2 weeks. A) so freakin excited for my shower B) I got 2 and now have to decide between them.
Stretch marks?  Negative
Sleep: More just turning over and bathroom breaks. Otherwise, sleep has been pretty awesome in the last few weeks.
Miss Anything?  Being able to breath.
Best Moment this week: Going to our birthing class. We both actually learned a lot.
Movement: All over the place.
Food cravings: Milk. Of course when we don't have any.
Aversions: Pretty much the same stuff through the whole pregnancy..
Labor signs: Not yet. Other then my random contractions that aren't BH's. However, I have a whole list of things to look for!
Symptoms: Still some awful hip pain. And now chest pain at night. Not a fan.
Belly Button in or out? Odd.
Wedding rings on or off? ON!!
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy! And starting to freak out a little..
Looking forward to: Finding out my blood results, hopefully nothing too scary!!
Not looking forward to: All the damn work I have to catch up on since we lost power last week. Ugh.

28 Weeks- 3rd Trimester!!!

We have hit the 3rd and final trimester!! Holy crap. I feel like I am growing by the day and our little girl just does not have that much room anymore to move around! Poor thing.
*Wet hair don't care! At least I showered today...*

How far along?  28w3d --> 3rd trimester!! Woohooo!!
Total weight gain: up 4 more pounds! (Thankfully only 4 pounds!!) 128-->147
Maternity clothes? A few new sweaters. Spent last weekend going through all my old winter stuff to see what I still fit into.. not so much.
Stretch marks?  Cocoa butter I love you. No stretch marks (yet). However, I have started getting a dark line down my belly.. its very faint though.
Sleep: UGH! I want to be able to sleep through the night again! I know that probably wont happen. Ever again. Baby girl has decided that 1 AM is a great time to have a dance party. Momma doesn't agree.
Miss Anything?  Sleep. Alcohol. Being comfortable. Alcohol. Sushi. Alcohol.
Best Moment this week: Gold cup!! So much fun.
Movement: I would absolutely LOVE for her to get her perfect baby feet and toes OUT FROM UNDER MY RIBS. She just loves to get them all up there and kick my lungs. She's going to break my rib before this is all over. I'm sure of it.
Food cravings: Nothing really new. Still sweet stuff. Apple cider is delicious and a new staple in my fridge :-)
Aversions: Salty things!! Tried Doug's Salted Carmel Mocha coffee this morning. I gagged. YUCK!!
Labor signs: Have a random contraction every now and then. Apparently this is normal. I almost crapped my pants. Stay in there for a few more weeks baby!
Symptoms: Holy hip pain. My back hasn't been feeling so great either. I now waddle. (and look like a penguin)
Belly Button in or out? It's just weird.
Wedding rings on or off? ON!! And strangely feeling looser then normal.
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy!! and emotional. We're back to crying all the time. Thank you hormones. You suck.
Looking forward to: Having a quiet week at home.
Not looking forward to: Sleepless nights. And the mounds of homework I have to do.

27 Weeks

Okay, I lied. I'm sorry.

Not only did I lie about the picture, I completely forgot to do a 26 week post too. Whoops. (and thank you friends and family for pointing that out to me.) However, in my defense, we were in Pittsburgh last weekend visiting Doug's family (I normally update the blog on Saturday's) and on Sunday when we got home we were busy with football & baseball games as well as putting the nursery together! (see post below for more on that!) So, what has the last 2 weeks held for me you ask? Nothing. Been a completely boring momma over here. I spend my days on the couch watching movies and studying for school. SO exciting. Not. However, next week is so filled with doctors appointments I don't know how I'm going to keep up!

How far along?  27w2d
Total weight gain: God I hope it's still 15 pounds. I find out next Thursday!
Maternity clothes? Still the same stuff. Pulled out my bigger/longer sweaters from last season and they all still fit. Woohoo!
Stretch marks?  Nope. *Cocoa butter I owe it all to you!*
Sleep: Sleep has been *shoulder shrug* lately. I feel like I wake up all the time. Seriously. I think I only sleep for an hour at a time before having to turn over. That and I can not seem to sleep past 6:30 am anymore. Not happy about that fact. At all.
Miss Anything?  Being able to get off the couch without having to do some crazy maneuver I came up with or Doug pushing me up. And there is just something about having a nice glass of red wine on a cold fall night with the candles burning and snugglin with my hubs on the couch that I can't seem to fix.
Best Moment this week: Baby furniture coming in and putting it all together.
Movement: I love trying to figure out whats her bum and her head. And I swear I can feel her little fingers and toes moving around in there too. Creepy.
Food cravings: Sweets. Really anything sweet. I try to fix it by eating fruit but that doesn't always work. Thank heavens for the opened bag of chocolate chips..
Aversions: Meat. Period. Had chicken the other night. Gross.
Labor signs: Nope
Symptoms: Hip pain. My god it's bad. I've tried every stretch and movement I can think of. Left side is much worse then my right though. So painful.
Belly Button in or out? I don't even think it's classifiable right now..
Wedding rings on or off? On! Though they were off for a few days this week..
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy!! and tired..
Looking forward to: GOLD CUP RACES NEXT WEEKEND!!! Can't. Freaking. Wait. AND dinner date with teeteebee. Havn't seen that girl in FOREVER.
Not looking forward to: 28w apt on Thursday. While I love my doctor and can't wait to hear out little girls heartbeat... this apt is going to SUCK. Glucose test, rogam shot, blood work, and talking about our birth plan (give me the meds ASAP!). I told Doug he better take me out to dinner after all that crap!

And the theme is...

WE HAVE BABY FURNITURE!!! EEEEEK!

Holy crap batman. This just got real. After months (okay only one) we have furniture in the nursery! Yikes! My wonderful mother and step-dad went and bought the crib and dresser from Babies'R'Us. It took about 2 weeks for it to come in but we LOVE IT!! The dresser came put together so Doug and I spent last Sunday afternoon putting the crib together. Never thought putting a crib together would be so much fun!

I can't believe in a few short months there will be a BABY in that crib! I still screech every time I go upstairs and look to the left and see this! However, I love love love how it looks. This little beauty will also convert into the toddler bed AND a full bed set when our little babe gets older. All for not having to go furniture shopping again.
In the right corner (of the picture) is where the rocking chair/glider will go and on the other side we will have the diaper pale thingy. I can't wait to fill all these drawers with adorable little outfits!! Hello nesting, it's nice to meet you!

Well boys and girls, the theme of the baby room is WINNIE THE POOH!!! I absolutely adore this quote by Christopher Robin!! Doug bought this decal (thank you etsy.com!) to go above the crib and then my darling sister is drawing 4 pictures that we will frame to go above the dresser. We're not going crazy. More accents then anything. Obviously, anyone who knows me or my family would know that the nursery was bound to be something Disney. Can't freakin wait to have it all done. I might spend more time in this room then the baby!!

25 Weeks

Hello, October!!!

I remember back in August I was sitting on the couch with Doug one Sunday and saying that I wanted to just go to sleep and wake up and it be October. Well, HELLO!! September went by SO fast. I didn't think it would go that fast AT ALL. But, here we are. I knew once we reached Oct. that the time would just start flying by. We have SO much going on in the upcoming weeks and before we know it our little girl will be here! Yikes!! However, October means Fall which is by far my favorite time of the year. Pumpkin spice lattes, sweater weather, cuddling under blankets, and those delicious fall smells. Not to mention the trees changing, all the fun festive activities that we take part in (that I will no doubt have to find yummy non-alcoholic drinks to bring!) AND holiday season!!! Ah, so excited!!

*Picture to come soon!! Promise!*

How far along?  25w4d
Total weight gain: 15 lbs (128->143)
Maternity clothes? Finally went and got some maternity pants. 2 pairs of jeans and a pair of work pants. SO COMFORTABLE!! Yes, I am rockin those fully belly bands too!
Stretch marks?  No sir!!!
Sleep: Been off and on this week. It's getting really difficult to roll over at night so it takes me a few minutes.
Miss Anything?  Fitting into my regular jeans. And alcohol.
Best Moment this week: My mom and step-dad got to feel my little girl kick for the first time. Only other people that have felt her kick (other then Doug of course). It was the first time Tom (my step-dad) had ever felt a baby kick in utero. So adorable. AND we ordered the nursery furniture. YAY!!
Movement: SO active. I really really hope this isn't a preview of what is to come.
Food cravings: strawberry preserve, apple cinnamon ANYTHING, lemonade, and pudding
Aversions: I keep trying to get over this red meat thing.. it doesn't work. The smell of ketchup still has me immediately running to the nearest bathroom too.
Labor signs: Nada (thank heavens!). Still have those braxton hicks every day though.
Symptoms: HOLY HEARTBURN BATMAN. Zantac you are my savior and best friend right now. No kidding I have a bottle with me at all times..
Belly Button in or out? Halfie? I have one part that sticks out and another that's still kinda in. SO FLIPPIN WEIRD
Wedding rings on or off? On!
Happy or Moody most of the time: Emotional. I've cried every day this week for no freakin reason and I have no idea why. Thank you hormones, you're awesome.
Looking forward to: Having a quiet week at home where I can knock a bunch of stuff off my to-do list. My week will consist of laundry, cleaning, and homework. Yippee.
Not looking forward to: It might all be on my to-do list but I'm not a fan of laundry, cleaning, or homework. hahaha

24 weeks

We took a spur of the moment long weekend trip to the beach this past weekend. We went to the OB for our 24 week apt on Thursday then jumped in the car and off we went! It was wonderful. So amazing to get away for a few days (and the last time before our bundle arrives!). We went with one of our very very good friends Shawn (drinking buddy for Doug!) and it was so awesome. Couldn't have asked for a better weekend. There is just nothing like waking up with a cup of coffee and going for a walk on the beach. My paradise. But since we didn't bring our board with us, we had to settle for the sand..

Not looking forward to: All the homework I have to catch up on from going to the beach and not doing a damn thing!!
I will say I wasn't such a fan of walking down the beach and all the eyes on my belly. But yes, I totally rocked my bikini. I was not about to go out and buy a maternity swim suit when we were only going for 4 nights/3 days. I kinda forgot that my blood amount has DOUBLED since getting pregnant and I totally fried my face and belly so we only spent 1 day on the beach. Whoops.
